ITALIAN GREYHOUND
This most elegant and graceful member of the Sighthound group is small but
in every aspect a Sighthound to a tee.
The Standard requires a Sighthound without a round skull, not prominent eyes
and not too round ribs. A maximum height for dogs and bitches is 38 cm.
Long, small limbs, a fine slim head, a long bent "deer-neck" and a very
strong raised belly-line, straight in the front, well hooked in the back.
His eyes are dark coloured, his nose is black or dark pigmented.
His coat is short-haired, fine and it feels like satin. He is one-coloured
black, slate-coloured, isabel or variations of those colours, a little bit
white in the brest or in the feet is acceptable.
The movement must be just like a Hackney-pony, stepping is a fault.
A Italian Greyhound has a devoted character, tolerant, not shy or
withdrawn and is, supposing he has good upbringing, a quiet, obedient
member of the family, outside a cheerful, playful and hunting Sighthound.
